Center for Research on Psychological Practice (CROPP)
The Department of Clinical Psychology of Antioch University New England (AUNE) established the Center for Research on Psychological Practice (CROPP) to address emerging educational aspects of doctoral training in clinical psychology that are not regularly included within the usual professional psychology curriculum - those relevant to applied clinical research and evaluation skills and the associated administrative, consultative, and policy-creation roles of doctoral level psychologists. CROPP specializes in the creating healthcare learning systems through practice- and community-based participatory research, thereby improving the provision of the full range of mental health and wellness services in underserved and rural community settings. Since its inception in 1996, CROPP has partnered with community service agencies and caregivers throughout New England. The development of this kind of research center, particularly within the context of a doctoral program in clinical psychology, is, to the best of our knowledge, unique to AUNE
Vision and Mission
We envision a future in which practitioners and researchers work conjointly and collaboratively with their communities to solve problems and improve services, thereby enhancing the lives of the recipients and providers of mental and behavioral health, substance, and wellness services. Our primary mission:
- Use community and practice-based research to create healthcare learning systems, thereby improving the full range of mental and behavioral health, substance, and wellness services in community settings.
- Train doctoral students in clinical psychology and related mental health fields in the provision of community- and practice-based research and evaluation.
Core Values and Beliefs
- We are committed to improving the mental health and well being of the recipients and providers of behavioral healthcare in underserved community settings via community- and practice-based research.
- We believe that health care systems are most effectively improved from the ground up - via action-oriented research that prioritizes the needs of the practice community, and that promotes systematic learning systems in behavioral healthcare environments.
- We believe that successful practice-research relationships are characterized by mutual engagement and trust, multidisciplinary collaboration, egalitarian power structures, and a co-learning orientation.

- AUNE has received $125K from New Hampshire's Endowment for Health to fund the pilot phase of an Integrated Care Evaluation (ICE) project
- CROPP researchers received $225K National Alliance on Mental Illness contract to facilitate the evaluation of a suicide prevention & postvention program
- Charettes - As part of the initiative to serve the community, CROPP invites community programs to Antioch University New England for an informational seminar on how to conduct program evaluations and to apply for grants
