Center for Research on Psychological Practice
Mission
The Center for Research on Psychological Practice (CROPP) addresses emerging educational aspects of doctoral training in clinical psychology that are not typically included within the professional psychology curriculum. These areas include those relevant to applied clinical research skills and the associated administrative, consultative, and policy-creation roles of doctoral level psychologists. In addressing these areas, CROPP provides high-quality and unique training experience to our doctoral students through active collaboration with agencies and caregivers throughout the region. Doctoral students co-conduct all CROPP projects, thereby developing a rare skill set highly attractive to internships and employers alike.
Activities
CROPP serves the local community with three major initiatives:
- Applied Research, such as program development and evaluation for local and regional mental health agencies
- Psychotherapy Training for agencies seeking to increase the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of their services
- Rural Mental Health Collaboration, focusing on increasing the access, utilization, and effectiveness of mental health services to local underserved rural populations
