Center for Research on Psychological PracticeThe Department of Clinical Psychology of Antioch University New England established the Center for Research on Psychological Practice (CROPP) to address emerging educational aspects of doctoral training in clinical psychology that are not regularly included within the usual professional psychology curriculum—those relevant to applied clinical research skills and the associated administrative, consultative, and policy-creation roles of doctoral level psychologists. CROPP strives to provide a high-quality and unique training experience to our doctoral students through active collaboration with agencies and caregivers throughout the region. Doctoral students co-conduct all CROPP projects, thereby developing a rare skill set that is highly attractive to internship and employers alike. CROPP serves the local community with three primary services.First, CROPP serves as a consultation center for local and regional mental health agencies interested in effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, intervention, and program evaluation research. Second, CROPP conducts brief psychotherapy training and research projects for agencies seeking to increase the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of their services. Third, CROPP works with rural clinics to increase the access, utilization, and effectiveness of mental health services to local underserved rural populations. To our knowledge, CROPP is the only research center of its kind within the context of a doctoral program in clinical psychology. Jim Fauth, PhD has been the Director of CROPP since Fall 2002.
