My classroom takes this journey every day as we explore science that is both meaningful and relevant to our daily lives. Crew for 6 months and 2005 for one week on the 150-foot, three-mast topsail schooner. Worked with German High School students teaching sailing technique, cooking, repairs, (astro)—navigation, weather and marine observations, and more.
Waskowitz Outdoor School (Highline School District) — North Bend, WA 2001—2002
Taught at the residential, environmental, outdoor education center that was converted from an old CCC camp for multi-grade programs.
Outdoor Adventures (Flagstaff Junior Academy, a Montessori School) — Flagstaff, AZ 1998–1999
Outdoor Leader for ages 6–13. Activities: rock climbing, hiking, nature activities, trail rebuilding projects and team building.
Camp Sweyolakan, a Residential Camp Fire Boys & Girls Camp Coeur d’Alene, ID 1998–1999. Led outdoor trips including horseback riding, rock climbing, canoeing, backpacking, kayaking and river rafting. Designed/implemented new adventure programs.
Worked at a wide variety of restaurants: Seafood Chef at fine dining in Germany, a Swiss Bed and Breakfast in Vermont, started Vegetarian Dinners at Isadora’s Café in Washington State.
