Workshop Opens Up the World of Dance/Movement Therapy

DMT Intensive Dancers

Immersing themselves in the field of dance/movement therapy for a week, participants recently took part in an intensive workshop offered by AUNE. The workshops, taught by AUNE faculty, are intended for those who want to explore dance/movement therapy as a career, as well as for those who want to further their professional development.

“The intensive provides an opportunity for prospective students and interested professionals to ‘dip their toe’ into the profession and feel solid about their desire for deeper immersion in the field,” said Christina Devereaux, director of clinical training in the Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) and Counseling program at AUNE.

“The participants gain both a deeper understanding of the profession, through experiential learning, but also are able to experience how DMT can be a profound outlet for personal expression and change,” Devereaux said. “As one participant indicated, her experience at the intensive was ‘A wonderful, life-changing experience. It was inspiring, moving and generally a wonderful experience…‘”

Two more intensives are scheduled for:
• January 6-8, 2012 , a three-day intensive
• June 4-8, 2012 , a five-day intensive
