Travel Grants Available for Northeast Climate Change Preparedness Conference

LOCAL SOLUTIONS: Northeast Climate Change Preparedness Conference is offering travel grants to teams from New Hampshire municipalities attending the conference, thanks to a grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

Travel grants up to $375 will be awarded, with preference given to teams with at least one municipal employee, such as town manager or public works personnel, and at least one elected or appointed municipal decision-maker, such as mayor or selectboard member. Twelve grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

LOCAL SOLUTIONS will be hosted by Antioch University New England and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on May 19-21, 2014, in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The conference is designed for participants from throughout the region from northern Chesapeake Bay to the Eastern Maritime provinces in Canada. Local planners, educators, elected officials, and other professional municipal and county decision-makers will be able to network and learn how to better prepare for severe weather and climate change impacts in the Northeast. The third day’s track is specific to fostering preparedness linkages between schools and communities.
