Susan Hawes, PhD

Susan Hawes with children in South Africa

Professor Susan Hawes will be one of the invited speakers at the University of Hartford’s annual diversity conference “Toward a Global Diversity: Psychology as an International Phenomenon” on Tuesday, November 11. Her talk, titled: Poverty and AIDS in Developing Nations: A Global Call to Service for Western Psychologists, will explore the global threats of poverty and AIDS to child development.

Susan, a professor and director of accountability research in Antioch New England’s Department of Clinical Psychology, will present suggestions on what we can do. She will argue for the incorporation of education and training for international service and research into our professional psychology programs and for the creation of an institute for international service and action research for psychologists.
