Martin Luther King, Jr. and Jonathan Daniels Day of Service a Success

MLK Day of ServiceThe Martin Luther King/Jonathan Daniels Day of Service held on January 18 was a success! Many thanks to professor Gargi Roysircar and AUNE PsyD students Vincent Pignatiello, Amithea Love, Margaret Podkova, and Jennifer Leslie for helping to organize the service projects.

Seventy-one volunteers from the Keene community, including parents and their children, participated in the event and helped serve the Samaritans, the local American Red Cross center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Stonewall Farm, Cheshire Medical Center, and Prospect Place.

The day began for all with a complimentary breakfast and a Day of Service t-shirt, which were funded by a $500 Campus Compact grant and by the City of Keene’s Jonathan Daniels Committee. Volunteer projects included cleaning dairy stalls at Stonewall Farm, a cappella and solo singing at Cheshire Medical Center, painting and repairing the Samaritans and American Red Cross offices, visiting with senior citizens at Prospect Place, and participating in a focus group for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.

This event was sponsored by the Support Group for Ethnic and Racial Diversity (SERD) in the Department of Clinical Psychology at AUNE in conjunction with the City of Keene’s Martin Luther King/Jonathan Daniels Committee.
