Antioch University New England (AUNE) presented “Communities of Artists, Arts in the Community” on Thursday, May 19, at 7 p.m. as the final event in its 2011 Spring Speaker Series. It is free and open to the public.
The panel discussion includes David Macy, AUNE grad and resident director of the MacDowell Colony, in Peterborough, New Hampshire; Lenny Matczynski, executive and artistic director of the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, in Nelson, New Hampshire; and Aaron Wiederspahn, executive director of in Keene, New Hampshire.
From landscape painting to chamber music, modern dance and avant garde sculpture, artists need opportunities to meet other artists and to present their work to the communities in which they live. Come hear the directors of three important local arts organizations talk about what they do to provide space for artists and bring art into the community. Each is also an active member of the Arts Alive! initiative, whose mission is “advancing arts and culture in the Monadnock Region.”
