EPA Webinar July 24 Highlighted AUNE Student’s Work

The Energy for ME project at the Island Institute in Rockland, Maine, undertaken by Ruth Kermish-Allen, the institute’s education director and a PhD student in environmental studies at Antioch University New England (AUNE), was featured in a national Community-based Environmental Education webinar on Tuesday, July 24.

The webinar was organized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), whose Environmental Education Grants Program funds environmental education projects around the country. The Island Institute’s project is one of two awarded in 2010.

Energy for ME is an energy education program involving students and their families in ten of Maine’s island and coastal communities. They are learning about their communities’ energy consumption, renewable energy, and strategies for becoming more energy efficient.
