Come to Community Garden Connection’s Harvest Fest, September 17

The 2013 Harvest Festival is set for 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, at the Keene Recreation Center, 312 Washington Street, Keene. The event, which is free and open to the public, will honor all the sites for the Community Garden Connections.

The celebration will include snacks, arts and crafts, music, and an awards ceremony. Feel free to bring a snack to share. “This will be a time to share stories, celebrate the season, and reconnect with our growing community, said Michael Hightower, co-coordinator of Keene Community Garden Connections (CGC).

CGC has sites at Building Bridges, Harper Acres, Keene Family YMCA, Early Sprouts, Prospect Place, Keene Recreation Center Catch Program, Keene Center, Monadnock Family Services’ Kids InSHAPE, A.C.C.E.S.S., Monadnock Area Peer Support Agency, Keene Housing Authority, and Woodward Home.

CGC began in 2011, with the help of a private donation from the Rashti Foundation, to support the installation and cooperative maintenance of raised gardens in partnership with local service agencies, students and community members.
