Cabaret in Somerville July 12 To Raise Money for AUNE’s Disaster Shakti

A fund-raiser for Disaster Shakti is on tap Saturday, July 12, at the Arts at the Armory Café, Somerville, Massachusetts. Laetitia Geoffroy-Dallery, a second-year PsyD student at Antioch University New England (AUNE);  Megan Henderson, and the Cambridge-based Prince Street Cabaret will  present a new cabaret show: “Dear Diary: Soundtrack of my Life.”

It’s an evening of contemporary musical theater, from Pasek and Paul to Katie Thompson and Scott Alan. You will follow a year in the romantic life of a French woman, and laugh and cry with her as she kicks her boyfriend to the curb and attempts to navigate the dating world.

The cabaret show will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.  There is no admission fee, but donations will be very much appreciated and will go to Disaster Shakti 2014.

Disaster Shakti is a volunteer team of AUNE clinical psychology students who use their education to reach out to disaster survivors. Trained in multicultural counseling competencies, the team affirms the resilience of survivors and empowers them to take care of their well-being, health and stress management, coping, and problem solving.  This year, Disaster Shakti heads to Haiti in August to offer psychological services to an underserved population.
