AUNE Student Alliance Hosts Moving Planet Events

For the second year in a row, AUNE’s Student Alliance will hold several events in coordination with 350.org to mark Moving Planet’s annual day of action Saturday, September 24. Moving Planet is a worldwide rally to demand solutions to the climate crisis.

Events sponsored by AUNE’s Student Alliance:

  • Saturday, September 24
    A hike in the White Mountains with Tom Wessels, core faculty member in AUNE’s Department of Environmental Studies
    All AUNE students are welcome to join Student Alliance for a day-long trip in the White Mountains. Meet at AUNE to carpool. For more specifics on trails and times, contact Kari Post at kpost1@antioch.edu.
  • Monday and Tuesday, September 26 and 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Bike shelter building at AUNE
    Students, faculty and staff are invited to come for an hour or the whole day to help build a new shelter to keep bicycles dry and safe. Snacks will be provided.

    Environmentally Themed Story Time
    Keene Public Library, Youth Program Room
    A drop-in storytime appropriate for children of all ages and their parents or caregivers. The day’s story will have an environmental focus. No sign up necessary.

    Film Screening: A Convenient Truth

    Free and open to the public
    A Convenient Truth: Urban Solutions from Curitiba, Brazil is an informative, inspirational documentary aimed at sharing ideas to provoke environment-friendly and cost-effective changes in cities worldwide. The documentary focuses on innovations in transportation, recycling and social benefits including affordable housing, seasonal parks and the processes that transformed Curitiba into one of the most livable cities in the world.

    Snacks will be provided but people are more than welcome to bring and share some tasty treats.
