Students in the Food Systems of Cuba course are asking for donations to support public health in Cuba, to take on their trip leaving January 3. The items most needed are over-the-counter medicines such as vitamins, especially for children, aspirin, allergy medication, cold and flu medications, soap, and shampoo. Keep the original labels on medications, and be sure they are unopened and unexpired.
You can place donations in the box outside Libby McCann’s office in the Department of Environmental Studies. Libby is teaching the Food Systems class and leading the trip.
Since the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba was put in place in 1960, Cuba has not been able to import enough food, medication, and medical supplies for its citizens.
