Annual Program Reviews are designed as a process… as a process in which Program Directors, faculty, the Director of Academic Assessment and all academic, student and institutional support departments collaborate to use data as a means for fostering student learning and improving program effectiveness. The descriptions and flow chart below outline the Annual Program Review (APR) process, implementation dates and roles of specific individuals.
Program Directors submit their Annual Program Reviews to their respective Department Chairs and then to the Director of Academic Assessment by December. Program Directors, in collaboration with faculty, implement their plan for assessing student learning outcomes throughout the year.
Director of Academic Assessment
The Director of Academic Assessment provides feedback to programs on their APRs and reports to the Vice-President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) in February. The Director of Academic Assessment is a core faculty member from one of the Academic Departments. The Director consults with programs, the Academic Assessment Council, and the VPAA throughout the year.
Vice-President of Academic Affairs
The Vice-President of Academic Affairs reviews the APRs and reports the results to the AUNE community in March.

Academic, Student, and Institutional Support Departments
Departments incorporate APR results into planning and decision-making for institutional effectiveness, and use the APRs to guide resource allocation throughout the year. In the flow chart below the double arrow line connecting Program Directors with academic, student and institutional support departments indicates how APRs may be used to inform the decision-making within and across departments at AUNE.
Academic Assessment Council
The AUNE Academic Assessment Council is the institutional work group for coordination and discussion of assessment related issues. Council members include the Director of Academic Assessment and a representative from each academic department. The Director may also represent the academic department of which she or he is a member. Council members advise the Director of Academic Assessment and act as liaisons to their departments for academic assessment matters.
