Rehearsing Connection: Fostering Recovery from Relational Trauma through Dance/Movement Therapy

  • November 7, 2015 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

AUNE’s Department of Applied Psychology presents a full-day workshop with David Alan Harris. Grounded in theories of the psychophysiology of trauma and recovery, this workshop will encourage participants to develop skills for implementing dance/movement therapy (DMT) interventions and treatment plans that focus on Safety, Remembrance & Mourning, and Reconnection.

This workshop is designed to help deepen participant awareness of the challenges facing persons who have undergone severe relational traumas, and offers skills based in DMT theory and practice for helping such individuals regain self-esteem and a restored capacity for self-efficacy. Self-care strategies for therapists and student therapists will also be central to this workshop, given the importance of self-care when working with a traumatized clientele.
