Thinking in Film Clips: Life with AutismAn Evening Workshop for Parents and ProfessionalsPresented by CarolAnn Edscorn, MSCarolAnn Edscorn is an autism educator, advocate and consultant. She was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in 1995. She is the mother of five children, with two sons also on the spectrum. CarolAnn presents her life story with humor and insight, and intertwines the current facts about autism, from the neuroscience to sensory concepts, from social pragmatics to cognitive processing. She illuminates behaviors that concern those who live and work with people on the spectrum, and provides a deeper and more practical understanding of a brain condition rife with misconceptions. 6:30-7:15 pm - Overview: Presenter biography; definitions and examples CarolAnn is a published author and essayist and a performer and artist. She holds a BFA in Theater from the University of Rhode Island and an MS in Urban Affairs Management/Public Policy Analysis, focusing on education issues, from Southern Illinois University/Edwardsville (1985). She completed the graduate certificate program in Autism Spectrum Disorders at Antioch University New England in Keene, NH, in 2008. She lives with her family in southern New Hampshire, and travels with her service dog, Shakespeare. Continuing Education HoursAntioch University New England (AUNE) is pleased to offer 2.5 continuing education contact hours for this workshop. The workshop must be attended in its entirety in order for participants to receive credit. Partial credit will not be awarded. RegistrationRegistration fees include all materials, and a certificate of attendance/continuing education. The registration deadline is 14 days prior to the event. A late fee will be applied for registrations received following the deadline. Cancellations received in writing 14 working days prior to the event will be refunded, minus a 20 percent administrative fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations within 14 days prior to a scheduled event. Early registration is highly recommended.
