According to national estimates, there is a massive gap between the dollars that could realistically be given to charitable causes, and the amount that actually is received. For example, the gap in New Hampshire is $155 million including a $15.5 million gap in the 42 towns of the Monadnock Region alone. Giving Monadnock provides development training and fundraising services to area nonprofit organizations to help close this gap. At present, the Training Institute of the organization provides area nonprofit groups with both introductory (Level I) and advanced (Level II) programs, as well as other support services. Giving Monadnock was launched as an independent nonprofit in the fall of 2002 and established its own office in Keene. Also in 2002, Giving Monadnock gave out 46 diplomas to Training Institute recipients from nonprofits in the Monadnock Region. Giving Monadnock became a stand-alone, nonprofit organization in 2003.
