Our state has a natural-based economy and community-based living. All aspects of life revolve around natural resources, and the majority of people draw their livelihood directly from the surrounding environment. In recent years, due to various natural and human causes, this symbiotic relationship between man and nature has become strained, causing an adverse impact on the life of our people. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have worked toward academic excellence, social commitment, and leadership. These efforts resulted in my receiving a scholarship from the International Fellowship Program, funded by the Ford Foundation. I chose the Resource Management Conservation (RMC) program in the Department of Environmental Studies at Antioch University New England because I found the curriculum very pertinent to the work I have been doing in my region of India. The RMC program has a proper blending of scientific base and democratic values combined with a great deal of hands-on experience. After earning an MS in RMC from Antioch New England, my understanding of environmental studies will be broader and more focused. I am looking forward to applying my expanded knowledge in real field situations at home, adjusting and modifying my methods to the local socio-economic and environmental conditions. My work at Antioch New England will enable me to advocate for the people of my state and to influence their quality of life in a positive way. | ||||
