Perry Cohen is the founder and Executive Director of The Venture Out Project which is a wilderness adventure school for the LGBT community. Perry is also a management consultant and works with organizations to help them develop and execute world-class leadership and talent development programs.
Prior to founding The Venture Out Project, Perry was the Vice President of Talent Management & Leadership Development at C&S Wholesale Grocers, the ninth largest privately held company in the US. In his role, Perry was responsible for identifying and developing talent to meet the strategic needs of the organization. He also started the executive development and community involvement programs at C&S and is a certified executive coach.
Perry volunteers as a counselor at Camp Aranu’tiq, a camp for gender non-conforming youth and teens, and is on the Board of Trustees at Antioch University New England and at C&S Wholesale Grocers. He previously served on the Boards of Darrow School and the Windham United Way.
Perry holds an M.Ed and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and earned an M.S. in Sport Administration and Physical Education from the University of New Mexico. Perry has presented papers on gender in sport at national and international conferences and has published work on sport history. He has been an invited speaker at The University of California Davis, The University of Maryland, The University of New Mexico and other institutions.
Perry has a partner, two children, and a chocolate lab. When not out on course, Perry can be found biking, skiing and running on the trails near his home in Western Massachusetts.
