Nancy Boyd Grant

Nancy Boyd Grant Nancy has over 35 years of experience in both staff and board leadership roles in the education and non-profit realms. As a Principal of Grant Associates along with her husband David, she now consults with schools and nonprofit organizations, specializing in strategic planning and the creation of effective administrative systems. She also works part-time for the Appalachian Mountain Club as Director of Volunteer Managed Facilities.

Nancy began her career in education at Cushing Academy (MA), and has also worked at Milton Academy (MA), Newark Academy (NJ), and Dartmouth College (NH). In 1983, she and David co-founded The Mountain School of Milton Academy, an innovative, nationally recognized one-semester academic program for high school juniors located on a working organic farm in Vershire, VT. In 1996-97, she served as Interim Head of School at Crossroads Academy in Lyme, NH. For several years, she was Director of Programs for New Jersey SEEDS, a non-profit organization based in Newark, which assists low-income students in preparing for and gaining admission to private secondary schools and colleges.

Nancy is a member of the Board of Advisors of The Mountain School and a trustee of The Childrens’ Initiative, a Portland, ME-based organization that supports impoverished children in villages in Honduras, Haiti and Vietnam. Over many years and in several capacities, she has served on the governing committee of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Three Mile Island Camp, most recently as Co-Chair of the Rec Hall Campaign Committee. While living in New Jersey, she was a member of the Boards of Trustees of New Jersey SEEDS and the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race.

Nancy holds a BA in Urban Studies from Connecticut College, and a M.Ed. from the Department of Organization and Management at Antioch University New England.
