The Art and Practice of Leadership Development.Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. I was accepted to participate in this week-long intensive, experiential executive education workshop that engages leadership consultants, teachers, and trainers from around the world. Participants work closely with the faculty of distinguished leadership educators (Heifetz, Linsky, Kegan) as we examine a range of leadership concepts and teaching methods. A unique feature of this program is its emphasis on a provocative pedagogy (Case in Point) pioneered by program faculty that use the class itself as a case from which everyone can learn about the dynamics of leadership.

Title of grant: Enhancing the Capacity of Academic Institutions in the Albertine Rift for Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change Research through a regional network.Beth A Kaplin, Center for Tropical Ecology & Conservation, ES Dept, AUNE, and Biology Dept, Faculty of Science, National University of Rwanda. This is a 3 year project funded by THE JOHN D. AND CATHERINE T. MACARTHUR FOUNDATION. The goal is to improve capacity for biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation in the Albertine Rift region through a recently established network, the Regional Network for Conservation Educators in the Albertine Rift (RNCEAR or Albertine Rift Network). This Network includes Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Tanzania and is focused on academic and research institutions and practitioners in the Albertine Rift that work in environmental and conservation science. We will strengthen the capacity of these institutions and individuals through networking, enhancing collaborative opportunities, emphasizing strengths in the region for biodiversity conservation, and empowering individuals in the region to succeed. 2011-04-01.
