Lecture by Rwandan Geographer April 12 is Open to the Public

(Keene, NH) — Dr. Gaspard Rwanyiziri, director of the Centre for Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing at the National University of Rwanda (NUR), will speak at a special Brown Bag event, 11:30 a.m., Thursday, April 12, in Science Lab I at Antioch University New England (AUNE). His talk is titled Governance of Protected Areas in Rwanda. The public is invited to this free event, which is sponsored by AUNE’s Department of Environmental Studies.

Rwanyiziri is a senior lecturer in geography at NUR who researches natural resources and the effects of climate change and variability on biodiversity conservation, water availability, and local livelihoods in Rwanda. His visit is a result of a memorandum of understanding between NUR and AUNE to build an educational system for conservation biologists in Africa’s Albertine Rift region.
